The CoE participates in the global conference for the celebration of the International Day for Universal Access to Information in Uzbekistan

Tashkent (Uzbekistan), 28-30 September 2022 – The CoE attended the global conference for the celebration of the International Day for Universal Access to Information (IDUAI) 2022 organized by UNESCO. The IDUAI 2022 took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 28 to 30 September and provided an opportunity to discuss e-Governance, Artificial Intelligence, and Access to Information, covering both benefits and risks in terms of sustainable development.

 

The CoE was invited to the 4th session, ‘Measuring Progress on Access to Information Laws and its Implementation’ as a speaker. The session aimed for exchanging key findings from the 2022 Report on SDG 16.10.2 and experience from various stakeholders related to the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development and the establishment of effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.

The CoE delivered a presentation about UNODC monitoring progress on SDG 16 and methodological tools for Member States to promote data availability in the field of crime and criminal justice. The UN Survey on Crime Trends and the Operations of Criminal Justice Systems (UN-CTS) and SDG 16 Survey Initiative (SDG 16 SI) were introduced to the participants together with other international standards tools developed by UNODC. By participating in the sessions and activities prepared by UNESCO and the Uzbekistan government, the CoE strengthened partnerships with international organizations, development agencies, and research institutions.
