CoE participated in American Society of Criminology (ASC) 76th Annual Meeting

Chicago (United States of America), 16-22 November 2021 – To enhance collaboration with academics, UNODC-KOSTAT Centre of Excellence (CoE) participated in American Society of Criminology (ASC) 76th Annual Meeting, which is the largest organization focused on disseminating knowledge and scholarly research in the fields of crime and criminal justice.

The 76th Annual Meeting theme was ‘Science and Evidenced-Based Policy in a Fractured Era.’  ASC Annual Meetings brought together crime and criminal justice academics and experts from national organizations, universities including University of Oxford, Cambridge University, Boston University, etc, think-tanks, civil societies, non-governmental organizations and private sector. An estimated 2,000 people attended the event amid the pandemic.

The CoE participated in the annual meeting with Korean Society of Criminology in America (KOSCA), and partook in a roundtable discussion on “Research Prospects in South and South-East Asia” and discussed crime data availability in the respective region. In addition, potential areas of research collaboration were discussed amongst the representatives of ASC, KOSCA, and the CoE.
