Daejeon (Republic of Korea), 16 January 2024 – On 16 January 2024, representatives from the National Crime Information Centre(NCIC) of the Indonesia National Police visited the CoE to engage in discussions regarding the implementation of the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS) and to gain insights into the various tools offered by UNODC in the realm of crime and criminal justice statistics.
The NCIC has been actively involved in the working group tasked with implementing the ICCS in Indonesia and is now leading this group. During their visit, the delegation also paid a visit to Statistics Korea (KOSTAT) to learn from their practical experience in implementing the ICCS.
Following two workshops delivered by the CoE in January and March 2023, this visit provided the NCIC with the opportunity to discuss not only the ICCS but also all the UNODC tools in the field of crime and criminal justice statistics the CoE provides technical assistance for Member States to implement, and to explore other areas of potential cooperation.
During the visit, the CoE presented a comprehensive overview of all the UNODC tools relevant to its work, including the ICCS, Manual on Crime Victimization Surveys (CVS), Manual on Corruption Surveys, SDG16 Survey Initiative, the Statistical Framework for Measuring the Gender-Related Killing of Women and Girls, and the International Classification Standard for Administrative Data on Trafficking in Persons (ICS-TIP), as well as global data collection tools such as the United Nations Survey of Crime Trends and Operations of Criminal Justice Systems (UN-CTS).
